Breezes Resort, Zanzibar : Let it be known that I would never choose nor pay to stay here but the prize was won. And I was so out of character for this resort that it might explain why security denied us entry on arrival. Was it the layers of dirt on our clothes? our backpacks? Or that we arrived by common dala dala. Anyway, they had to let us in and we even got upgraded! There are a lot of photos of the same thing as it was out last destination of the holiday and you wanted to capture everything forever (well the luxury and tranquility) before heading back to real life!

Tanga Tanga Tanga : We loved Tanga, a tiny town on the north east coast, home to Tanzania's second largest port, with a laid back friendly feel - no hassles and not a lot of electricty. Sitting in the dark watching the town television was the nightly highlights before retiring to our cheap room with sea views to peel mangoes. Mmmm.

Arusha National Park : If you like animals you're going to love this gallery, but there are lots of pics, and some of the best are about page 5 (giraffes). We did a walking safari, with a ranger with a gun and a mad sense of humour and then we drove around the park. Awesome.

Moshi: at the base of Kilimanjaro : In which we watch a lightning storm over Kili, fresh snow falls and we stay in Tanzania's coolest retro hotel. We also see a lot of mzungus for the first time, and hiss at them.

Toten Island, off Tanga : We aimed to take a dhow across to an island of ruins and German graves. The tide and wind were against us and climate change has effected the coastline but we got a glimpse of the island.

From Tanga to Arusha: the long way : The extra 1 hour from Moshi to Arusha took three hours. I wanted to collapse when we arrived. Our seat for two was not really made for two so one of us hung off the seat or sat with our shoulders scrunched.
